The Medford Friends Peace and Social Justice Committee embodies core Quaker values, focusing on promoting peace, equality, and social justice in our community and beyond. As with all Quaker testimonies, there is no single, official “Quaker position” on issues; instead, our actions and perspectives are guided by our shared principles and a commitment to listening for the guidance of the Spirit.
Our committee draws inspiration from the traditional Quaker belief in “that of God in everyone,” which emphasizes the inherent worth and dignity of all people. This belief fuels our work as we advocate for a more just and peaceful world. While the peace testimony is often what people know best about Quakerism, our committee recognizes that testimonies like equality, integrity, community, and anti-racism are equally essential and interconnected, much like an ecological system where each part supports the whole.
Through local initiatives, educational events, and connections with larger Quaker organizations Medford Friends Peace and Social Justice Committee works to address social issues with compassion and integrity. We aim to support and inspire one another, encouraging our members and our community to engage in active, thoughtful advocacy for peace and justice.
